  Recently, I was instructed to watch the film Miss Representation (available on Netflix) for a project in my journalism class. Naturally, I assumed it would be boring and uneventful, but I was very wrong. This film, directed by Jennifer Newsome, truly opened my eyes to a very real problem in today's world: the misrepresentation of women in the media. Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media and culture contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.
